Medicare Advantage popularity continues to increase – As Democrats Talk Single Payer, Private Medicare Advantage Soars
Health insurers are reporting unprecedented growth in the number of seniors flocking to private Medicare Advantage plans amid talk of a single payer government-run approach that could uproot such coverage.
Medicare Advantage (MA) plans replace traditional Medicare (typically plus a supplement and drug plan). They are popular for a variety of reasons including:
- Cost (typically low premium payments to the insurance company)
- Part D drug plans are part of most MA plans.
- Ancillary coverage such as Dental, Vision and Hearing
Keep in mind this ancillary coverage typically is not full featured.
Medicare Advantage plans are expected to reach 50% market penetration by the end of 2025.
